Take-Two Unconcerned About GTA 6 Performance Issues on Xbox Series S

Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently addressed potential concerns about Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) performance on the Xbox Series S during the company’s Q2 FY 2025 earnings call. With GTA 6 set to release in fall 2025 on both the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, some fans have questioned whether the less powerful Series S could handle the game’s demanding requirements. Zelnick, however, remains confident, stating he’s “not worried” about the game’s performance on the console.

Key Points:

  1. Xbox Series S Capabilities: The Series S, known for being a lower-spec version of the Series X, has previously struggled with high-demand titles. However, Zelnick reassured that Take-Two is skilled at optimizing games across various hardware levels, ensuring players have a quality experience regardless of platform.
  2. Platform Support Strategy: Zelnick emphasized that Take-Two’s approach is to reach consumers on a variety of platforms, adjusting for each platform’s technical capabilities as long as the player base warrants the effort. He stated, “We support platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech.”
  3. PC as a Growing Market: While GTA 6 has not yet been confirmed for PC, Zelnick mentioned that PC is an increasingly significant part of their business. Historically, GTA titles like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 released on PC over a year after console launches.
  4. Setting and Release Timeline: Take-Two confirmed a fall 2025 release for GTA 6, which will take players back to the iconic Vice City within a fictional U.S. state named Leonida, inspired by Florida. A trailer for the highly anticipated game was released last year, building excitement among fans.

This measured confidence from Take-Two reflects its commitment to making GTA 6 accessible across major platforms, regardless of hardware limitations, allowing more fans to experience the upcoming title.
