EA’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard, launched on October 31 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, has rapidly become a major hit, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 70,414 on Steam. This makes it BioWare’s biggest Steam launch, surpassing the previous record held by Mass Effect Legendary Edition with 59,817 players. The game even topped Steam’s Top Sellers list, pushing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 into second place.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also EA’s largest single-player launch on Steam, surpassing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which recorded 67,855 peak players. The launch excludes numbers from other platforms, including the Epic Games Store, EA Play, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
EA has high hopes for The Veilguard. CEO Andrew Wilson highlighted its strong early reviews and immersive storytelling, predicting it would drive Q3 revenue growth. EA expects third-quarter net bookings of $2.4 billion to $2.55 billion, driven largely by Dragon Age and the continued success of its EA Sports FC franchise.
